Speaking of acting like little children... is it my turn?
We currently have a rare insight into what is inside the GDC press kit! One word, visible through the little hole-punch hole. But what could that word be? Heheh.

It's like a code reader. You put it over a page of text, write down the words that's in the holes and make a new word. Then move it down to the next line. That's my guess.
Edit: Nvm it's just an envelope.. >.>

It's a picture of a "press kit" that Nyte tweeted from the TSW presentation at Funcom. What Rayala thinks the word is, I dunno. It looks like "titl" to me.

I have two sides of myself kind of at war right now. Part of me entirely understands FC's position. I get it. I saw the embargo coming, as what has happened in nearly every TSW related matter, especially at PAX and GDC.
Sure, it is really hard to keep that in perspective when the powers that be are tweeting "I can't wait until GDC!111!!11! (to show the world the footage)".... but we still, should have recognized the probable reality of their intentions - even if they probably weren't laid out very well (or announced late). Perhaps our unrealistic expectations are the problem. I don't know. I am frustrated, but I honestly hope the footage is received well by the press... but, I'd like to actually see it. A portion of it. I have been trying to hook along about 70 people into this game... real life connections as well as online connections.. and it is painstakingly difficult to keep their interest when absolutely NOTHING is given to us. Sure, the Kingsmouth video was huge. I dug it. So did others. Sure, they thought the CGI trailers were amazing, but useless when it comes to actual relevant game oriented information. I could spout the typical "have hope" sermon to the lots of you, but it wouldn't help. I understand your frustration because I share it. But, I will not allow my angst over the matter spoil the surprise of this game. Just let it go for now. It'll come when it will come. Falling on your bum and kicking and screaming whilst throwing a tantrum about how the community is neglected will not get us anywhere and do we really want to make Sappho's job difficult? No, we do not. This is a GOOD community, despite the countless references to the Mayan doomsday, the count down counter, and the mindless derailed PvPISL33t discussions. Cheer up. ![]()

Impressions of TSW at GDC, Day 2
So I've been racking my brain most of today trying to figure out what I can report back to you. You already know that I've seen the presentation (several times lol) And you know that the I can only really say at this point that it's "ZOMGWTFAWESOME WITH PWNSAUCE". So I think I'd like to do something a little out-of-the-box, something that's not "embargoed information", but something that's going take a little time to bring it together. Many of us are already quite familiar with Ragnar and Erling, but there are dozens upon dozens of other people working hard on this game. In the coming weeks, I'd like to help introduce and highlight some of the other amazing members of the TSW team to our community. For example, Martin Bruusgaard, the Lead Designer and Ragnar's right-hand man and partner-in-crime. Ole Herbjornsen, Associate Producer - the man that is shaping the look and feel of PVP, among many other aspects of the game. Jan Birkland, Junior Communications Manager - a somewhat recent addition to the marketing team whose taken on many of the responsibilities of helping mold TSW's media image. Eugene Lim, Project Manager - hailing from Funcom's Beijing office. Lawrence Poe, Design Director; Cathrine Horn, Project Manager; Nina Sund, Lore Writer / Designer; Anne Lise Waal, Producer; the list goes on and on and every one of them a critical member of a team that's pouring their heart and soul into this project. Speaking of heart and soul, I have to mention that I've been incredibly impressed at how hard this team has been working here at GDC. They have a grueling schedule of meetings and presentations and I'm amazed at how much energy they bring to each and every one. I definitely have a much greater appreciation for the herculean effort involved in putting together an amazing presentation, the coordination of getting press to an off-site location, staying fresh and energetic and delivering a great 45-minute experience for each one. I don't know how these guys are going to do it for two more days. Now... all that being said, I'm going to press my luck a bit. I'm going to post one of the stand-out quotes from the presentation, which comes from a not-yet-introduced Kingsmouth character. In the scene she says, "It's these abnormally formed Condition 17s... Can we just start calling them zombies, Sir?" The attention to detail is incredible, from the back story to the delivery of the voice acting. I have to keep reminding myself that what's being presented this week is just 1 "small" area of the overall game. Yet the scale and scope of this one area could probably be a game just on it's own merits. Bottom line... when the embargo is lifted, I think we're going to be really happy with the information that will be released. (Of course, we're going to want MOAR AND MOAR!!!) I want to say a big thank you to the team for the incredibly generous amount of time and access they've provided. I've really enjoyed the conversations I've been able to have with them, and I appreciate their willingness to listen to some of the concerns we have. I've enjoyed this chance to get to know them better and I look forward to helping our community get to know them better too. I'm on my way back home in the morning. I will have spent about 40 hours here in San Fransisco and it went by way too fast.

Once more thanks Nyte.
Now to go off on huge random thought train for that little quote (I hope Funcom marketing doesn't know your home address just to be sure )That to me sounds from the term, "Condition 17" to the use of "Sir." To be military. They have mentioned that the military will be in Kingsmouth so I think this shows perhaps they have had experience with such things before. Given they have been able to give a classification to the zombies.

Thank you Nyte, it sounds really awesome. Maybe the "You don´t get to see anything" bit was a big misunderstanding. Looking forward to anything we get in the future. Hopefully very soon though!

Thx Nyte for the report, we're eager for information but thank you as always for going there, for dedicating yourself to the task and for representing us.
condition 17? does that mean there are 16 more condition ? (are they evolving into zombies or are there around 17 different subjects?)

Hmm... What is also interesting is that she specifically mentions it being; "abnormally formed". It could be that however this is (military or not) know of various ways that zombies can be "formed". Or they are talking about how these zombies aren't your average zombie what with the tentacles, and various other aquatic features.

Good post Nyte, thanks.
And now we will all welcome the many posts debating the significance of the zombie quote ![]() I for one can't wait to see the whole thing. Drink it all up with my eyes and then sequester myself in a broom closet while I re-enact the footage using only my toes. That's how much I care ![]() |

I had the same when I read it, 'so what are these other 16 conditions'?

I'm glad that the Kingsmouth zone alone already sounded like an extensive area to experience and immerse yourself in. It makes it sound like TSW will be a vaster world than AoC. I only hope Kingsmouth will not be as a Tortage Island, where you get all excited and when you leave the zone you notice the rest of the world of AoC isn't as large or deep as Tortage promised it to be. |
