Hi
I live in Lofoten Norway and I found something in my mother’s loft the other day. Its a pile of papers with some diary writing on it. Its signed by someone named Nicolas Belmont. I tried to find out who it is and then I put the name in google. I found this site here and I thought maybe you could help me finding out what this is. I scanned all the pages and put it on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sveinjt/ |

Here is the whole translation of the notes scribbeled down on the pages.
1 There is scribbeled names in the margins of each page. Cleopatra is a name at least. I bet the other is names aswell 2 I wonder what the names means. What could the conection be between the story/farytail about King Arthur and these pages be? 3 Haven't heard of any of these. 4 The few I recognize are queens. 5 It is Impossible for me to find enough information in the library here in Lofoten(place in norway) Wonder who they are. 6 (nothing) 7 I have at least heard about Nefertiti. Cleopatra and Nefertiti. Egypt. As far as i know the others do not have anything to do with Egypt.

@sveinjt, why did your mother have Nicolas Belmont's diary pages in her loft, is she related?
@Ocura, it always begins when I need to go to bed! Near midnight here. First page, three words jump out: Artemisia: I know this is a medicinal plant, also known as wormwood, and it's connected to Shiva and Wicca. Cleopatra: the Egyptian queen. and Livia Drusilla: wife of Augustus and perhaps the most powerful woman in the Roman Empire. It appears there are powerful mythological/historical women on every page. Guinevere, Titania, Gorgo (Medusa), Zenobia (Syrian queen who conquered Egypt)... god I love mythology! ![]()

I was gonna translate the norwegian too! Okay, I guess the first one will have to do...
Det er navn skrevet i margen på hver side. Cleopatra er et navn i hvertfall. Jeg går utifra at de andre er det og. There are names written in the margins on each page. Cleopatra is a name at least. I assume the others are as well. Exciting!

Lurer på hva disse navnene betyr. Hva kan eventyret om Kong Arthur ha med disse sidene å gjøre? I wonder what these names mean. What can the legend of King Arthur have to do with these pages? I have to go! And I don't have internet at home yet...and I have to get ready for a birthday party...Have fun! And good luck!

Well Guinevere is grouped with Titania on page 2, the queen of the fairies of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. If I remember right, Shakespeare got the name from Ovid? Something to do with Titans. *searches his mythology books* Yep, daughters of Titans, and the Titans were the children of Ouranos and Gaia.

I am on a laptop, and if I tilt it back very far on side one is an entire other page, but I cannot see it too clearly, if anyone is good with gimp or photoshop might be a good idea to take a close look at side one :O

You're right! I can make out "imagine a million possibilities, all bleak", but most of the text is obscured by the other text. Photoshop, stat!

First thing i noticed:
Side 1 has another text imprinted on it, lighter and harder to read, in between the normal lines: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sveinjt...24653/sizes/l/ look close you'll be able to read "Misery as we Approach the bay her face gleaming in..." right above the first line of the 2nd paragraph I'll check to see more! |
