Default Zombies. Why did it have to be zombies?

Zombies bore me. They put me to sleep. I yawn when I see zombies. I don't understand the appeal. I'd walk right past a zombie flash mob without even looking at them. There. I said it. I am a gamer who thinks zombies are boring. I'd rather pay a gold farmer to grind my character past the Kingsmouth zombies, that's how much they bore me. When people talk about zombies, all I hear is "blah blah blah".

/breathe I feel better now that that's out in the open.

Edit: Crap, I hit 'post' instead of 'preview'. Oh well, it's all public now.

i love zombies.

the complete takeover of the human body by something (virus/evil spirit) is scary.

they also make for a great apocalypse. when your body can be turned into "other", nowhere is safe.

I'd rather watch Nicholas Cage's Ghost Rider on repeat for 24 hours straight, than deal with zombies.

Ok, they're not as bad as Ghost Rider. It's also cool for others to like zombies. I just... meh, they bore me. And I wanted to let others who feel the same way about zombies to know that they're not alone, that there are more like them, they don't have to keep it in the closet, they can express their boredom of zombies freely and without prejudice!*

*Thread isn't a rant, it's all in light-hearted jest. Everyone loves zombies, and I was feeling all alone with my zombie meh-ness.

Yeah, I got to say, I am with Yume on this one.

Whhhaaay did it have to be zombies?

I hate zombies.

Oh, I know why. Zombies to Lovecraftian settings are like droids in Star Wars. You can kill then without pause or remorse. Because they are already dead.

I guess zombies beat boars and spiders. But only just.

Yeah, zombies are a bit overused.

I find myself more interested in what made them zombies in the first place, though.

Funny, I thought they were pretty amusing in Bioware's Planescape (it was Bioware, right?). But there zombies were a part of the lore, and there was such a rich background to the whole Mortuary place.

I loved Planescape btw.

In Kingsmouth, I expected, you know, the changed people, but not undead. I wanted it to be more subtle, more gradual, so you would see a character like Davy Jones in the Pirates of the Carribean, or you could have a character like Nick, a Native American who has developed gills and and an ability to speak the language of the Deep Ones, and then he stopped changing.

Zombies are boring.

Umm, has anyone here read the RT interview? He says this is just the start, and leads to something much bigger...when you're involving modern legends/myth why not use zombies? They're proven to be popular, and people know what they are - more or less.

I was impressed that they seem somewhat fast moving, and come out of a fog...that is at least different to what MOST zombies come across at. I thought the same thing initial (oh gawd, zombeeeez) then kinda searched around and thought it through.

New Zealand has over 4 million zombies*, not including sheep.

*Neil Finn, Peter Jackson, and a hot chick I met in Queenstown excepted.

@Petrie, it's not a rant about TSW, just a light-hearted thread about zombies in general. Like vampires (who, despite Twilight, at least have personalities and interesting character relationships).

Oh, it's already here lol. Welcome to lovely Land o' Lakes, FL! Nothing but zombies and a couple of Twi-hards. But we learned to co-exist peacefully.

There are also going to be vampires in some part of the game. Start the complaining now!

Or just suck it up and try to enjoy it for what it is. Perhaps there will be a more compelling storyline surrounding these zombies than what you are used to. Perhaps the atmosphere will serve to horrify in some new and fun way while you enjoy that story and partake of the action. Perhaps you can just ignore the zombies and solve the mysteries surrounding Kingsmouth.

For the last time -- this thread was not complaining. It was a light-hearted post that, contrary to gamers and pop culture nerds the world over, I thought I was the only one who isn't interested in zombies. Comprende?

Dear lord I do hope you're joking Yume... If werewolves are the next big thing, then furry culture is gonna explode. And I'll kill someone if they're dressed like an animal and try and hump my leg...

Besides, everyone knows werewolves are the next big thing.

Wait a sec, how'd you do that Psychosmile?

Anywho, me and the only other person in the world who thinks zombies are boring will go sit in the basement and watch a bee in a jar....
